Origin: During World War 2, there was a rice shortage, and because of this, the MTR (Mavalli Tiffin Room) hotel staff experimented with semolina in place of rice to make idlis. That's where the legendary Rava Idli was born. MTR is one of the oldest hotels in Bengaluru; it dates back to 1924 and was founded by Parampalli Yagnanarayana Maiya.
Ingredients in this dish are semolina, grated carrot, coriander leaves, seasoned cashews, curry leaves, and curds, not to miss oggarne. All the ingredients are blended well, put in Idli moulds, baked for 15 minutes, and served hot with ghee and coconut chutney.
Undeniably, MTR is the best Rava Idli hangout.
This is a much healthier option and quick to make, unlike our standard "Idli.”. This can be made in a jiffy, as there is no fermentation required.
